some of my fondest memories were going to my grandpa's house and helping him with whichever project he was creating that day. my grandpa was a skilled carpenter and cabinet maker.
Grandma would always find some fresh baked cookies and bring them down stairs to grandpa's workshop where she would find me sanding whatever grandpa wanted me to sand.
grandpa was an amazing man created in a different time. he was blunt and too the point. If you weren't doing a good job he would tell you. show you how to do it right and then expect you to do it right this time.
I value that input! it is important in our learning process to be told when you are doing something wrong and to be held to a high standard.
to this day whenever I am working on a piece, I ask myself, "What would grandpa say?" I can still hear him saying, "what is that?" causing me to start all over in a quest for perfection.
Thank you Grandpa for inspiring my love of woodworking and my desire for excellence in everything that I do.
